How much does the hardware cost?
Terminals start at $319 and are a one-time purchase on every plan. Surge Free runs on one Surge Spark, $319. Surge Plus and Surge Premium run any Surge terminal, one license each. See each device and accessory on the hardware page.
Which pricing programs does Surge support?
Cash discount, dual pricing and surcharge. In all three you enter your own price, card customers pay a posted card price, and cash comes back to exactly what you entered. Only the receipt wording changes: "Cash discount", "Cash price" or "Fees removed". Cash discount has no brand cap, is allowed in every state and applies to debit and credit. Surcharge is capped at 3% by Visa, restricted in several states and never applied to a debit card.
Can I switch plans later?
Yes. Change your plan from the back office at any time. Your items, staff and sales history stay exactly as they are.
When can I start taking cards?
You can set up your items and team as soon as you sign up. Card payments turn on once we verify your business, which usually takes one to two business days.
What happens if the internet goes down?
The terminal keeps your item list on the device and keeps taking cash. Those sales sync to your reports as soon as you are back online. Card payments need a connection.
