Read your dashboard

What net sales, gross, discounts and refunds mean, why tax and tips are set apart, and when your business day ends.

Who is this guide for?Everyone with back office access: Admins, Finance and Viewers.

Open the dashboard

On the back office
  1. Sign in to the back office and click Dashboard in the menu.
  2. Pick a period: Today, This week, This month, Year to date or Custom dates.
  3. Read the headline row. Each figure is compared with the period before it.

The headline row

  • Net sales is the headline: your money after discounts and refunds.
  • Sales sits next to it: how many sales you made. A low net with a normal count means smaller baskets; a low count means a quiet day.
  • Average sale is before tax and tips.
  • Refunded is what you gave back, and its share of gross.

The day's money

This card has two parts. Don't add them together.

  • What was sold runs from Gross, minus Discounts given and Refunds (before tax), down to Net sales.
  • What came across the counter splits Card from Cash. It's more than net sales because it includes tax and tips, shown as of which tax and of which tips.
  • Tax belongs to the state and tips belong to your staff, so neither counts as your revenue.

When a day starts and ends

Your business day runs from 4:00 AM to 4:00 AM. A sale rung up at 1:30 AM counts toward the day before, so a late night stays on one day.

The dashboard counts completed sales only. Voids and tickets that were never paid are left out.
Your pricing program doesn't add a line here. Gross already reflects what customers paid.
On Surge Free the dashboard shows Today. Other periods are part of Surge Plus and Surge Premium.
