Print barcode labels

Print labels with the item name, price and barcode on an office printer or a label printer.

Who is this guide for?Anyone with back-office access can print. Owners and Admins can give an item a barcode.

Before you begin

  • Label printing is part of Surge Plus and Surge Premium.

Print labels

On the back office
  1. Click Print labels… in one of these places: Store setup > Items > Actions, the Stock page, or a received delivery on a purchase order.
  2. Tick the sizes and set how many of each. As many as are on hand fills in your counts.
  3. Under Label stock, choose Letter sheet, 30 labels (2⅝ × 1 in), Letter sheet, 60 price tags (1¾ × ⅔ in) or Label roll, 2¼ × 1¼ in.
  4. On a part-used sheet, set Start at label.
  5. Click Print….
  6. In the print dialog, set Scale to 100% and Margins to None, or the labels will miss the cuts.

Items with no barcode

The preview lists any size that won't print, with the reason. If a size has no barcode or SKU, click Give it a barcode. Surge makes up a number and saves it as that size's barcode, and the terminal finds it next time it loads your items.

The 30-label sheet fits Avery 5160 and compatible sheets. The 60-tag sheet fits Avery 5195. The roll is for a thermal label printer.
