Before you begin
- Customer directory is on under Store setup > Features, in Customers. The directory is part of Surge Plus and Surge Premium.
About the directory
Customers added at the terminal, in the back office or anywhere else all go into one directory. Nothing about a customer is required to make a sale.
Each customer's record shows what they've spent, how many sales they've had, when they last bought, and their purchase history.
Put a customer on a sale
- With items in the cart, tap Add Customer. It's under the discount button, above Charge.
- Type a name, phone number or email and tap Search.
- Tap the customer. Their name now shows on the cart.
- If they aren't found, tap Add a new customer, fill in First name, Last name, Phone or Email, and tap Save. A name or a phone number is enough.
Add a customer
If the email is already on file, Surge opens that customer instead of adding them twice.
- Go to Customers.
- Click Add customer.
- Fill in First name, Last name, Phone and Email. For a business customer, fill in Company.
- Add an address and a Note if you like.
- Click Save.
Find a customer
- Go to Customers.
- Type a name, phone number or email in the search box.
- Click the customer to see their details and purchase history. Change their details and click Save changes.
- Tap Settings, then Customers.
- Type a name, phone number or email and tap Search.
- Tap Customers.
- Type a name, email or phone number in the search box.
- Tap the customer to see their contact details, purchases and points.
The guest card at the terminal
Once a customer is on the sale, the cart button shows their name, their visits and what they usually order. Tap it to open their guest card: visits, when they were last in, what they've spent, Usually has, Last orders and the note on their record. Tap Back to the sale to carry on.
Take a customer off a sale
Tap the customer's name on the cart. If their guest card opens, tap Change customer. Then tap Take off the sale, or search for someone else.
Customers added from receipts
When a customer asks for a receipt by email or text, Surge saves that address or number as a customer. If the sale has nobody on it yet, the sale goes on their record. This doesn't sign them up for marketing: They agreed to marketing stays off until you tick it.
Erase a customer
Open the customer in the back office and click Erase customer in the Erase this customer card, then Yes, erase them. Their details are deleted for good. Their sales stay in your records with no customer on them. Only Admins can erase a customer.
